Horchata


I love horchata, living in LA I could find it pretty easy. Not the case here in Vancouver. So I thought "Why not make it then?" So here is my step one of my homemade horchata. It's chopped up rice, grated nutmeg, lemon rind and cinnamon sticks. Soak it over night in 3 cups water. Remove the cinnamon sticks and lemon, then blend it in the blender. Strain into a pitcher using a nut milk bag, cheese cloth would do the trick as well. Serve chilled with powered cinnamon on top.
